The proteomics platform at Umeå University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Science in Umeå provides infrastructure, scientific services and education for research in protein science and proteomics. The major financial contributors to the platform are:

- The Chemical and Biological Centre (KBC)
- The Laboratory for Molecular Infections Medicine (MIMS) and Umeå
  Centre for Microbial Research (UCMR)
- The Umeå Plant Science Centre (UPSC)
- The Department of Chemistry at Umeå University
- The Swedish University of Agricultural Science (SUAS)
- The Kempe Foundation
- The Berzelius Centre for Forest Biotechnoloy

The work of the proteomics facility has from the beginning had a broad perspective that included the entire range of research in life science at Umeå University, the University hospital, and the Swedish University of Agricultural Science. As a result of a work that combines education, collaborations, and services relevant advances in the development of research using proteomics and mass spectrometry based protein science were achieved. The proteomic platform is participating in the KBC and UCMR research school and regularly offering courses for PhD students and postgraduates. For a general overview of the work of this facility please have a look into the activity reports and the publication list.

The instrumental and bioinformatics infrastructure of the platform includes a complete proteomics work flow is available covering 2-D DIGE automated spot picking and protein analysis using MALDI-MS and ESI-LC-MS. The bioinformatics infrastructure includes resources for on-line booking of instruments, data transfer and a local Mascot and Phenyx server that provides access to many important sequence databases. A brief presentation of the services and resources of the  proteomics platform is available in the sections Mass spectrometry, 2-D DIGE & Imaging and Bioinformatics.
